Daniel P. Bellucci

Daniel Peter “Dan” Bellucci, beloved son and brother, passed away on June 4, 2023, at the age of 73, surrounded by his brothers and sisters. Born July 18, 1949, Dan was a lifetime resident of Syracuse, NY. Growing up in North Syracuse, Dan was a graduate of the Bishop Ludden High School, class of 1967. After graduation, Dan attended Auburn Community College, and in later years, Syracuse University, majoring in accounting. Dan actively served in the US Navy from 1971 to 1975, primarily traveling abroad on the USS Springfield. During his years of service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. In his many letters home, he expressed a sense of connection to Italy. He felt at home in the city of Gaeta located between Rome and Naples, the places from which his grandparents immigrated to the U.S. during the early 1900’s. A fisherman at heart, his love of trout fishing began at a young age on the banks of local creeks and rivers alongside his father, Ben and brother, Dave. A love he passed onto younger brothers and nephews. An avid NY Yankees fan, Dan could talk for hours about the greats who played for his favorite team. But what he took pride in, and loved most, was his large family. He rarely missed a family gathering, especially Mom’s Sunday dinners, and never missed a birthday. Brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, all looked forward to receiving a birthday card from Dan “Uncle Dan”. Dan is predeceased by parents, Ben and Mary Bellucci. Dan will be missed by his brothers and sisters, David (Patricia) Bellucci, Anita (Jeffrey) Bellucci Weiss, Ben Bellucci Jr., Mary Jo (Henry) Young, Virginia (Edward) Gurry, Gerard (Maureen) Bellucci, Nancy Bellucci, Christopher (Beth) Bellucci, Dominick (Silvana) Bellucci, Paul (Annette) Bellucci, Kathleen (Steven) Grosso, Mary Beth (Monte) Bellucci Kelly, Michael (Nita) Bellucci, and Kim (Mike) Bellucci Hone. A gathering to celebrate Dan’s life will be held at Fergerson Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10:30 AM followed by Rite of Committal in North Syracuse Cemetery.
