Nancy Blair Killius

On February 13, 2025, Nancy Joan Blair Killius passed away peacefully at age 93, in her home in Sumner, Georgia. Born June 25, 1931, she was the daughter of Robert Ira Blair and Ethel Morrison Blair. After graduating from Onondaga Vally Academy in 1948, Nancy married her sweetheart, Walter Killius. They raised their five children in North Syracuse. As a stay-at-home mother, she always provided support and love for her family. She loved camping with her family, traveling with them to many State Parks in New York, as well as having a spot at Brennan’s Beach, Pulaski New York, for over fifteen years. While supporting her husband’s efforts as one of the founders of North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (NAVAC), Nancy became an active member herself. It was then she realized it was her passion to become a nurse and help people. She entered the workforce as a nurse at the age of 40, after graduating with her RN degree from Onondaga Community College. She started her nursing career at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital as an Emergency Room Nurse. She then was a Nursing Supervisor at several nursing homes in the Syracuse area, finishing her career at Iroquois Nursing Home, in Jamesville New York, retiring at the age of 70. After which she and her husband, Walter, began to winter in Tarpon Springs Florida. While enjoying retirement, Nancy was an active member of the Red Hat Society. In 2022, Nancy moved to Georgia to be close to family. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, in 2018, son, Peter, 2022, and daughter, Patricia in 2023. Surviving are her children, Pam (Gary) Burket, Paul (Maria) Killius, and Marguerite (Craig) Harper; grandchildren, Gretchen Frith, Garren Burket, Robin (Michael) Sheehan, Nathan Burket, April (Terry) Phillips, Paul Killius, Jr., Aaron Spencer, Nicole (John) Eallonardo, Noelle (Rory) Knox, Craig (Jamie) Harper, Jr. and Michael Harper; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Tuesday, June 3 at 9:15 a.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse followed by burial in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, June 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse.
